About the 1Z10 Annual Railway Photography Competition 2025

The competition is now closed

It's the time of year to reflect on your photographs taken during 2025 and what a great year it has been. 1Z10 has a growing reputation, one that is associated with top quality photography, this is down to you guys. Once again we have an opportunity to let the rail fans of the UK see the fine work that is being produced as​​ we are fortunate that once again Today's Railways UK Magazine are supporting us by publishing the finalists again.

The competition aims to encourage people of all ages and all backgrounds within the group to blend creativity and authenticity within their photography and to work towards technical and compositional excellence.​

​

This year judges will be briefed to look out for technical imperfections, so make sure your pictures don't have dust spots or are unintentionally out of focus, etc etc.

The competition opens on 17th December and closes at 23.59 on 4th January 2026. If you have any problems or questions, please contact Eddie.

The Landscape category gives you the opportunity to enter your favourite pictures of trains or railways in the landscape whether they are industrial or rural.

This category includes but is not restricted to pictures taken in the station or railway depot environment depicting life in and around these types of premises.

​

​This category reflects the resurgence of interest in black and white photography.

It is your opportunity to demonstrate your skills to create pictures with atmosphere, drama and showcase your skills and creativity as a railway photographer.  Any aspect of railways can be included.
